Engineering Evaluation of UST Monitoring System Performance

A national fuel retailer had been challenged by the local regulators over detectable amounts of fuel constituents in the interstitial monitoring fluid in their fiberglass double wall underground storage tanks.  The engineering team at WPI was contracted to perform an engineering study on fuel permeability of gasoline and oxygenated fuel additives on fiberglass resin materials.  The resulting engineering evaluation provided to the agencies the subject fuel tanks were still in compliance.
