Installation of 1,000,000 gallons per Month Fueling System for Costco Wholesale

Santa Clarita, CA

WPI was retained by Costco Wholesale, Inc. to build a new fueling facility at its Santa Clarita facility. The facility was designed to dispense over 1,000,000 gallons of fuel per month.  WPI’s scope of work included:


  • Removed existing asphalt and recycling it at a reclamation facility
  • Installation of shoring and excavation of underground storage tank (UST) pit
  • Installation of three 30,000 gallon USTs, double walled fiberglass product piping, six product dispenser islands, state of the art UST and product dispenser monitoring systems and associated electrical equipment/conduits, etc.
  • Installation of a new dispenser island canopy (including construction of new concrete footings)
  • Backfilling and compaction of all excavations and replacement of removed concrete and asphalt
  • Performing all necessary fueling system testing, including UST compliance testing witnessed by the local Certified Unified Program Agency (CUPA)
