Our People

WPI’s foundation is built by the people involved. Our people are the key to our success and longevity. Starting with Wayne over 40 years ago, our leadership is engaged - from running the company to running projects, they are always involved and looking for the best way to serve the client. Meet the leadership team.

Our superior project performance comes from our people, technicians, operators, mechanics, geologists, engineers, and office staff. Our 150+ employees bring their expertise and commitment every day. They make the difference. Our average employee has over 10 years as part of the Wayne Perry Team. Time after time we hear from our clients about the extra effort these people make every day.

WPI’s team is there every time I need them to solve my problems, working after- hours, whatever is needed to get the job done…

Mary Young was born and raised in Torrance, CA. Coming from a family of seven children, she grew up with a very strong work ethic, strong faith, and high priority on quality family time. Mary graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s in Business from USC. She was also a USC Song Girl for all four years (following in her older sister’s footsteps) and got to travel throughout the US, Japan, and Australia, as well as participate in the New Year’s Day Rose Parade, twice.

Mary started her professional career in Banking & Insurance. She enjoyed staying active after college- working out and dancing- which led to winning a regional fitness competition: Miss Fitness America, and a transition into television production and event promotion for ESPN2.

After getting married, she found a new opportunity in the garment industry with Disney’s largest worldwide manufacturer, running the production and logistics departments and overseeing $100 million in merchandise a year for nearly 10 years. After her second child, she chose to take some time off to focus on her family for a few years.

In 2007, Mary found a home here at Wayne Perry. Her role in compliance has continued to expand over the past 4 ½ years. She has worked with Ron and the Construction department on just about every kind of project: from EVR upgrades, UST Installs, Ground Ups and Demo’s. Mary also handles our SB989 compliance testing program and works with various clients and PM’s to ensure state mandated compliance laws and timeframes are maintained. Currently she has also taken on another role as part of WPI’s Health & Safety Council team. She enjoys the fact that no two days are the same.

David received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from California State University, Fullerton in 2006.  He began his career working for the Federal Aviation Administration as a projcet manager, overseeing the Western Pacific Region’s FST and Environmental Compliance Program.  After approximately one year, he was hired by WPI, where he has been employed as a project manager for the past 5 years.

David was married in 2009, and he and his wife Nancy recently had their first child.  The couple is looking forward to being new parents and all of the challenges that it brings.  They presently live in La Mirada, and are excited about the prospect of purchasing their first home towards the end of the year.

David has a well-earned reputation as a strong team player, and is heavily involved in all aspects of our work for Shell Oil Company.  His pet peeve is lack of communication, and he works diligently to ensure that all stake holders are informed and up to date on his projects.  Career objectives include obtaining his California Professional Engineer license and establishing himself as a team leader.  Hobbies include softball (he organized WPI’s Championship team last year), basket ball, reading, and participation in church events.  The things he enjoys most about working at WPI are our casual atmosphere and our Owner’s open door policy
